Featured Fly - Spring Creek Sow Bug

After fishing Big Spring on Monday, I decided to sit down and tie a couple sow bugs up. This little guy has not yet been fished, but ill be putting it to the test next weekend, when we head back down fro round two.

Materials
Hook: TMC 2488 sz. 16-12
Rib: UNI Thread 3/0 Tan or White
Body: Sow Bug Dubbing - Rainbow, Tan, Grey
Under Body: Lead Wire .010
Shell Back: Scudback - Clear

Step 1: Make a thread base. Tie in the uni thread for the rib.

Step 2: Wrap the lead wire over the middle of the hook.

Step 3: Smash the lead wire flat, making a slip but wide profile.

Step 4: Add dubbing to the thread, then dub the body.

Step 5: Tie in the scud back behind the hook eye.

Step 6: Take the uni thread and make one wrap over the scud back. This will hold it in place.

Step 7: Rib the rest of the body, tying off behind the hook eye.

Step 8: Whip Finish and cut thread off.

Step 9: Take a budding brush and pull out the dubbing, this will form the legs.

Step 10: Once its all pulled out, take scissors and trip the dubbing.
