Year in Review 2012

So this year I made a goal to fly fish 10 different states, unfortunately I feel short by 2 states. However this year was one of my best years ever for fishing, not just the catching, but the stories and experiences that came with some of these trips. 2 failed trips to VT and FL, are the blame for not hitting the 10 state goal but hey what can you do. I know just make it your goal again! So thats the plan, my goal is 10 states with the fine print of possibly 12. We will see, but as you all fill your cups and say goodbye to 2012 and welcome 2013 I'm going to do the same, here are a couple photos, both fish and other from the 8 states I did make it to.

First state of 2012 was Ohio, it was a cold weekend and only a couple hook ups, none to hand, but this fish was from the same trip (only caught in Erie)

Memories from PA 2012

2012 in MD, the summer of state record Yellow Perch

Montana 2012, it was a great trip, exploring new water and fishing water that I've walk through once before

So lets all welcome 2013, and thank 2012 for being such an awesome year!!!

Photo Archive from Friends

I was running through my emails today, clearing out old ones to make room for all the new ones to come in with the new year. I found a few emails from some friends and co-works full of photos from the summer and early fall. Thank You Gavin, Chris, Steve, and Grant for sending me these photos.

Here is just a few for you to look at while the snow continues to fall on us!!!

Here are 3 from Chris's trip to the Missouri this past summer.

These 2 Gavin took one early morning musky fishing.

Grant sent over these from his last trip up to the Salmon River.

One of Steve's many fish from the Missouri River

George's Fly Box (or Bag)

The weekend before last, I had the pleasure of fishing up on the Salmon River with George and Chris. After an early wake up, 4 hour drive, and getting geared up in the parking lot, we made our way down to the stream. I was standing there looking up and down the river, no one in sight, I must have had a look on my face that George recognized from his own. He looked at me and said "you love this, don't you?!", I thought to myself, was this a complement, question, or just a statement, I wasn't sure. After a while of thinking, I realized it was that crazy look on my face, saying "I love this", that George recognized, so yeah it was a complement.

Anyway after that rant, I'll get into the real story. I was rigging my switch rod with a streamer, when George asks me "" what is your favorite color?"I look up to a quart Ziplock bag full of flies...

Not much more to be said about that...

We fished all day, it was kinda slow, but we had most of the DSR all to ourselves and that was worth the trip in itself. Chris landed the first Steelhead a pretty bright hen. Then we moved down stream and George got into a nice one. We fished for a long while before George was hooked up again, it was a nice Brown, a while later and George was into a couple small skippers and that was our day.

It wasn't until about 5 minutes before we were about to leave that I finally had a little action (maddening action). I had a fish eat my indicator, 4 TIMES! it was awesome, but that was it for me.
