The Beginning of June

Until the rain came, fishing was fantastic. Caddis and Sulphur hatches every day and every evening that had fish up and feeding like crazy. The spring creeks are fishing very well and fish are eating sow bugs, caddis, and sulphurs. Even the smallmouth are starting to eat again, now that they are done spawning.

Good Bye 2015, Hello 2016

Here is my annual good bye to the past year. It was a great year; I got married, had the privilege of getting a fly excepted by Orvis, caught my first Tarpon, and got offered to work at the new TCO location in Boiling Springs. It was also a great year for fishing. I did not do as much traveling as I have done in the past, but I did manage to fish Michigan, and Belize for the first time. I have to thank Doug our resident Orvis Rep / friend, and Elizabeth my wonderful wife for those opportunities. Here are some of my favorite memories from 2015.

Spring Creek Weekend

We were at it again this weekend,  two full days on the spring creeks. I took my buddy Kevin down for is first time fishing a spring creek, his all day smile mirrored mine. We had a great time in the snow, and made it home just before the weather got too bad. We had fish eating stoneflies and blue winged olives off the surface and sow bugs below. It is always a challenge for me and huge reward when you can hold a big one. With that being said, I enjoy the little ones just as much. I am a sucker for wild rainbows and finding a place with a healthy population in PA has made me a happy guy over the past few years. Enough about my love for a fish, just check out the photos.

Out Before the Storm

I was a little nervous to head south yesterday with the threat of freezing rain and snow. I hadn't been out for almost two weeks, so I had to go. I made a solo trip down to the Letort and Big Spring yesterday. Checking out a section of the Letort that I had never fished before. It ended up being more of a walk along the creek with a fly rod, rather than a fishing trip. About mid day the rain started and I decided to head down to Big Spring. There was no one on the creek and I was in heaven. I fished until around 2:00 pm and then headed for home. By the time I got home the car was covered in ice and the parking lot was a skating rink. Made it home just in time :)
